Staying Balanced During the COVID-19 Pandemic

We are living in extremely challenging times.  Our lives have come to a screeching halt.  Some of us find ourselves out of work and worrying about how we are going to pay our bills.  Others are trying to work from home while managing our children who are also home.  We are all worried about our health, food shortages, the economy.  We shake our heads in disbelief:  how did this happen?

It is crucial that amidst all this fear and uncertainty, that we find a way to stay calm and centered.  Now, more than ever, it is important to focus on what still gives us joy and peace in our daily lives.  While it is essential to keep ourselves healthy and take all necessary precautions to remain so, we must allow ourselves to let positive energy in.  Finding pleasant things to distract us like taking a walk and noticing all the flowers in bloom, listening to the sweet chirping of the birds, cooking a special meal, or catching up with friends on one of the many video platforms available to us are just some ways to stay present and experience joy.

There are many humorous YouTube videos circulating now that can make us laugh. Humor is also a wonderful antidote to all the catastrophic news we are constantly exposed to.  For many, a meditation practice or daily exercise works to create a sense of serenity.  Focusing on the breath for several minutes, without modifying the breath, can go a long way to calming a nervous body.

Here are a few websites that I have found helpful that I would like to share with you:

Remember that staying calm and staying in gratitude, boosts our immune system. Please take time to take care of yourselves.

Blessings to you and your loved ones,
